Shane Carter, Director of Teacher Licensure, and Joel Gillaspie, Coordinator of Teacher Licensure at Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) joined Katie Allen and Rich Resendez, Co-Directors of the Region 12 Comprehensive Center (R12CC) on March 5-6, 2024 to share information about the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Kansas Registered Teacher Apprenticeship program. The Registered Teacher Apprenticeship pilot program welcomed their first cohort of apprentices in the Fall of 2023 and through this presentation shared lessons learned as well as considerations for effective program scaling. The R12CC supports KSDE to build capacity for program evaluation planning that supports continuous improvement, informs scaling across the state, and provides a framework for studying long-term program outcomes.
